Walking Distance

Kemal Asik Avenue is just outside the Venetian walls which mark old Nicosia, defining new from old within the city. And this has great strategic importance! You are literally a five-to-ten-minute walk away from Kyrenia Gate (one out of three original entries into the fortified city). Once past that gate, you have entered history: OttomanĀ buildingsĀ line streets leading eventually to Buyuk Han and Selimiye Mosque/former St Sophia Cathedral. This area contains most sites interesting to tourists for their political history of Cyprus; it’s also very close walking distance either Ledra Palace crossing point or Lokmaci pedestrian crossing (to visit Southern/Greek Cypriot side) so probably best place stay tourist interested that aspect.

Directly surrounding the hotel is a combination of commercial businesses, government offices, and local shops. This is not some "scenic" resort area; this is a working city center. During the day the streets are filled with traffic and activity but at night outside the walled city it becomes very quiet except for inside the casino which seems to be popular among locals as well as tourists coming over from southern Cyprus since its opening. Your best bet for finding an interesting place to eat outside your hotel would be within walking distance into the walled city where charming courtyards offer cafes serving Cypriot coffee & pastries rather than searching in immediate concrete blocks surrounding hot

Another thing that makes this place unique is the view it offers of the Green Line. From an upper floor at City Royal, one can see into the buffer zone and to where flags mark the division of the island. This is a real sense of place that you do not get in beach resorts at Kyrenia or Famagusta. Nicosia happens to be also by far most hot part all over island, sitting inland without any sea breeze so strong urban heat island effect here July August.
